1. What We Cover

Saganote is a tech news site. We write about AI, hardware, software, startups, and the companies behind them, for people who work in tech or follow it closely.

This page explains how we put articles together and what rules we hold ourselves to when we do.

2. Where Our Information Comes From

Most of what we publish starts with a primary source: an official announcement, a company blog post, documentation, a changelog, a filing. If a story started with another outlet's reporting, we name them and link to them.

If we can't confirm something ourselves, we tell you who is claiming it instead of stating it as fact. Leaks get labelled as leaks. Rumours get labelled as rumours.

The links in our articles point to the sources we used, so you can check our work. We don't use affiliate links, and we don't earn anything when you click through to another site.

3. Independence

Nobody outside the editorial team decides what we cover or how. Advertisers don't get a say, don't see articles early, and can't pay to change a conclusion.

If a company that advertises with us has a bad week, we cover it the same way we'd cover anyone else's.

4. Reviews

When we review a product or service, the opinion in the article is ours. It's based on using the thing where we can, and on pricing, documentation, and published specs where we can't. If we haven't used something ourselves, the article says so.

Companies don't see reviews before they go up, and they can't pay for a better score.

5. How We Use AI

We use AI tools in our work - for research, summarising background material, and help with drafting. Pretending otherwise would be dishonest, so we won't.

Here's the line we don't cross: nothing goes up without a person reading it, checking the facts, and editing it. A human editor signs off on every article and takes responsibility for it. We don't publish raw AI output, and we never use AI to invent quotes, numbers, or images and pass them off as real.

6. Corrections

We make mistakes sometimes. When it happens, we fix the article and add a dated note explaining what changed. We don't quietly edit errors away and hope nobody noticed.

Typos and formatting fixes that don't change the meaning of an article get corrected without a note.

Spotted something wrong? Email [email protected]. Every correction report is looked at, and if you're right, we fix it.

7. Ads and Sponsored Content

Saganote doesn't run ads or sponsored posts right now. As the site grows, advertising is how we plan to keep it free to read.

When that happens, the rules are already set: sponsored content will always be labelled and will look different from our normal articles. You should never have to guess whether something was paid for, and ads will never influence what we cover or what we conclude.

8. Credit

When someone else did the work, they get the credit. Original reporting from other outlets is named and linked. Quotes stay accurate and in context.

The images on our articles come from a few places: we make some ourselves, some are AI-generated illustrations, and some come from free stock libraries like Unsplash or from press kits companies provide. Where an image needs attribution, it gets one. AI-generated images are only ever used as illustrations - never presented as real photos of people or events.

9. Get in Touch

If you think we've got something wrong, or been unfair to someone, tell us: [email protected] or the contact form. Complaints about our coverage are read by an editor and get a reply.
