
Grok 4.6 Arrives on Google Cloud Vertex AI
xAI's latest model is now available through Google's managed AI platform for enterprise and agent workloads.
Grok 4.6 Vertex AI availability brings xAI's latest model to Google Cloud customers through Vertex AI. The model is offered as a partner model, giving developers another frontier-model option inside Google's managed AI platform.

Grok 4.6 is designed for long-running agentic work, coding, research, and other tasks that can take multiple steps. It supports text and image input and has a 500,000-token context window, giving developers room to keep larger amounts of task context in a single request.
The model also supports configurable reasoning effort. Developers can select low, medium, high, or xhigh reasoning levels depending on how much computation a task needs.
On Vertex AI, Grok is exposed as a partner model through Google's Model Garden and an OpenAI-compatible API. The current xAI documentation lists the model ID as xai/grok-4.6 and says availability can depend on Google Cloud regions and quotas.
That managed access is the main change for Google Cloud users. Teams already working in Vertex AI can evaluate Grok alongside other models without building a separate serving layer for the model. Google Cloud's platform also provides the surrounding infrastructure for authentication, governance, and production AI workloads.
Grok 4.6 Vertex AI availability follows xAI's August launch of the model, which focused on stronger performance on long-running tasks and interactive work. xAI's Grok 4.6 launch covers the model's original release, pricing, and reported benchmark results.
For developers, the practical benefit is model choice. Grok 4.6 can now be considered alongside the other partner and first-party models available through Google's AI platform, while the model's large context window and adjustable reasoning make it suited to workloads that need more than a short conversational response.
Grok 4.6 Vertex AI access is subject to Google Cloud's regional availability and account requirements. Developers should check the model card and their project's quotas before moving workloads into production.
