Google's browser assistant summarizes articles, answers questions about what you're reading, and pulls in Calendar and Keep data without switching tabs. Gemini Spark brought similar AI integration to Mac Chrome earlier this year - Android in the US now catches up.

AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers on Android in the US can ask Gemini Chrome to handle tasks without manual navigation - book parking for an event, update a recurring online order, organize travel plans. Google frames this as agentic: handling "tedious everyday tasks" autonomously inside the browser. Sensitive tasks require explicit confirmation before Gemini proceeds. Google trains its models to detect prompt injection, the attack where a malicious web page tries to redirect what the agent does next.
Google's agentic browser play mirrors what it already shipped in Maps. Ask Maps now books food and hotels directly inside Google Maps - auto browse extends the same pattern to the open web, beyond Google properties. Google Assistant shuts down September 4, with Gemini taking its place across Android and Wear OS. Auto browse is where Gemini starts doing things Assistant never could.
Google did not say what percentage of Android users already have access, or whether auto browse will expand beyond AI Pro and Ultra plans. Gemini Chrome is live now - no separate app install required.
