Apple Releases iOS 27 With Siri AI and Faster iPhone Performance
Apple's latest iPhone update adds Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence features, faster performance, and expanded child-safety controls.
Apple has released iOS 27, with the update available starting September 14 for a broad range of iPhones. The release brings Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence features, performance improvements, expanded child-safety controls, and more refinements across iOS. Apple's official announcement confirms the rollout.
The release arrives just days after Apple's September hardware event, which introduced the latest iPhone lineup and other products. Saganote's Apple September 2026 event coverage provides the broader launch context.
What iOS 27 adds to the iPhone
Siri AI is the biggest change in iOS 27. Apple describes it as a more capable conversational assistant that can understand personal context, answer questions about what is on screen, use information from across apps, and take actions in supported apps. A dedicated Siri app also lets conversations continue across Apple devices.
- Siri AI can use personal context from areas such as messages, email, and photos.
- Siri mode in Camera can identify and explain things in front of the iPhone.
- Write with Siri can generate drafts or help refine existing text.
- A dedicated Siri app keeps conversations together across supported Apple devices.
- Siri can take actions in apps such as Messages, Music, and Reminders.
Apple is also adding more Apple Intelligence features to everyday apps. Photos gains Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an upgraded Clean Up tool. Safari can automatically organize tabs into topics and use Notify Me to alert users when a monitored webpage changes, such as when a product comes back in stock.
Performance is another part of the release. Apple says app launches on iPhone and iPad can be up to 30 percent faster, photos can load up to 70 percent faster after being taken, and AirDrop transfers can be up to 80 percent faster. Apple also says iOS 27 refines Liquid Glass with improved contrast and a new slider that lets users adjust the look from ultraclear to fully tinted.
The Health app gets additional Cycle Tracking support for perimenopause and menopause, alongside notifications about cycle deviations. Saganote previously covered the redesigned Apple Health app and its new Health Age and Readiness Score.

Siri AI starts with regional and language limits
Apple says Siri AI is initially rolling out as a beta in English. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support is planned for October. Availability also varies by region. Apple says Siri AI will not initially be available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch in the European Union, while Apple works through regional requirements, and Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are not available in China at launch.
Apple is rolling out iOS 27 now, but some features remain dependent on device support, language, region, and local requirements. The company's official iOS 27 page has the current compatibility list and feature details.
