Grok Bot Expands Access Beyond Its Original Beta Plans
xAI is widening access to its always-on AI teammate service beyond the three paid tiers used at launch.
Grok Bot is expanding beyond its original paid beta, giving more users a way to try xAI's always-on AI teammates. In its new Grok Bot: More Plans update, xAI is widening access around the service's original paid tiers while adding broader trial and team access.
xAI launched Grok Bot in beta on August 11 for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers on desktop and iOS. The launch introduced Bots that can handle multi-step tasks and return to the user when they need approval.
xAI has now added broader access options. Individuals can get a one-time trial, while self-serve teams can use a free trial or on-demand usage. The original paid plans remain supported.
What Grok Bot Does
Grok Bot is designed to work inside the tools a user already uses rather than stopping at a generated answer. Each account gets a persistent cloud computer, and Bots can browse sites, use applications, work with files, maintain context across tasks, and work in parallel.
More Access, Same Core Product
The expansion does not turn Grok Bot into the regular Grok chat app. xAI's documentation still treats Bot as a separate service with its own cloud computer, Cursor authentication, routines, approvals, and usage rules.
The change also fits xAI's broader push beyond chat. Grok Build turns prompts into websites, apps, games, and dashboards, while Grok Automations handles scheduled or email-triggered jobs. Grok Bot instead focuses on handing off ongoing computer-based work to a persistent teammate.
That push follows Grok 4.6's launch, which xAI positioned around longer-running agentic work and more ambitious interactive tasks. The company is increasingly packaging Grok as a set of agents and work surfaces rather than a single chat interface.
What Access Looks Like Now
Paid access remains tied to eligible plans, while the expanded trial gives more users a way to evaluate the product. Saganote's Grok pricing guide tracks the wider subscription lineup.
For teams, xAI says availability is rolling out and plan requirements can vary by organization. Enterprise access remains a separate rollout handled through the company's account-team process.
The practical change is simple: Grok Bot is no longer positioned only as a feature for the highest-cost early-access users. More people can now test the agent workflow before choosing whether they need a qualifying paid plan.
