Grok Bot launched today. xAI released the product on August 11 in early beta, describing it as a team of always-on AI agents that sign into tools users already work in and finish jobs end to end - no API required on the target platform. Beta access ships for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers on macOS and iOS.
Each Bot Gets a Cloud Computer - No API Required to Access Tools
One key distinction: Bots own a computer. xAI says each Grok Bot shares a cloud computer, navigates the browser, signs into apps, and works across platforms with no API or MCP server - the same way a human employee would, rather than the way most agent products chain API calls. Jobs run without the user staying at their desk: a sales Bot researches accounts overnight and has personalized drafts ready before the team's morning call; an engineering Bot reproduces a bug in the product UI, files the ticket, and hands the fix to a debugging Bot without a human relaying steps between them. SpaceX acquired Cursor for $60 billion earlier this year, and Grok Bot's download link routes through Cursor's infrastructure - the clearest sign yet of how tightly the two products are merging. xAI already ships Grok Automations for email-triggered scheduled jobs; Grok Bot handles similar territory but takes over a full computer session rather than executing discrete triggered tasks.
Bots Coordinate in Group Chats - One Can Manage the Others
Multiple Bots run in parallel under a single coordinator. xAI's internal setup places a "chief of staff" Bot on top with specialist Bots beneath - inbox management, expenses, recruiting, bug fixes, and operations. Bots message each other independently, share context in threads, and assign task ownership without a human relaying notes between sessions. Drop several Bots into a group chat and they coordinate autonomously, pulling in the user only for judgment calls. Teaching also replaces explicit setup: ask a Bot to shadow the next time a task runs, and it saves the steps as a routine it can then execute alone. Long-running overnight agent loops are where the model pays off most clearly - a Bot that handles a full sales outbound cycle while the team sleeps and has a scored, personalized inbox ready by morning is the use case xAI leads with from its own teams.
Built Internally First - Enterprise Access Still on a Waitlist
Internal adoption came before the public launch. xAI says Grok Bot started as an internal prototype that "took off across the company," with teams building Bots for sales outbound, marketing campaigns, office operations, and engineering work before any external release. Grok Bot is available now for qualifying subscribers; enterprise users join a waitlist and xAI has not said when that converts to access. Bots also grow sharper over time - they retain context on preferences, pick up edge cases, and become proactive, surfacing work before being asked. Whether that incremental learning holds up at scale across thousands of concurrent Bot sessions is the open question for a product still in early beta.
