X Cashtags now let U.S. users move from financial conversations to trading platforms through a new Trade option. X launched its Cashtag Partner Program with Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase as the initial partners. The feature was reported by TechCrunch and announced by X Business.

How X Cashtags trading works

A supported Cashtag, such as a stock, ETF, or cryptocurrency ticker, opens an asset page with price information and related posts. Users can then select Trade and choose one of the participating platforms.

  • Interactive Brokers
  • Moomoo
  • Gemini
  • Kraken
  • Coinbase

The actual transaction is completed on the partner's app or website, not inside X. Existing customers can sign in through the selected provider, while new customers can be sent to an account-registration flow.

X Cashtags connect market discussion to trading

Cashtags have long been used on X to group conversations around assets by placing a dollar sign before a ticker. The newer interactive version already provides market information and related posts. Adding a Trade button creates a direct path from that information to a participating brokerage.

The launch is part of X's broader push into financial services. The company previously launched X Money in the U.S., including a Visa debit card and money-transfer features. See our coverage of X Money's U.S. launch for more on that rollout.

Availability

The Cashtag Partner Program is launching for users in the United States. Asset availability, account requirements, and trading access can vary by partner, so users still need to meet the requirements of the selected brokerage or exchange.

X's new trading links change what a Cashtag can do on the platform: it can now lead from an asset's market conversation and price information to a third-party trading service.
