Google Health 5.06 Lets You Hide the AI Coach From Your Today Tab
Version 5.06 splits the Today tab experience into two modes - with or without Gemini-powered coaching - while keeping the Coach available on demand in either setting.
Google Health 5.06 rolled out August 14 on Android and iOS with a new Coach setting that gives users control over how - or whether - Gemini-powered guidance appears in the Today tab. Until now, Health Coach appeared in Today by default for all Google Health Premium subscribers with no way to remove it.
Takeaways
- Google Health 5.06 adds two Coach options: Standard (default with proactive insights) and No Coach insights (summaries only)
- Disabling Coach insights from Today does not disable the Coach - on-demand access and fitness plans stay available
- A maps bug is also fixed, resolving display errors for heart rate zones and pace
Two Modes Now - Standard or Summaries Only

Standard is the default and preserves the existing Google Health 5.06 Today tab: proactive, conversational insights and daily summaries from the Gemini-powered Health Coach drawing on the user's activity and sleep data. "No Coach insights" strips that layer and leaves only activity and sleep summaries in Today. Google Health Premium also gained monthly blood pressure and insulin resistance trend summaries at Made by Google 2026 alongside the Pixel Watch 5 launch, giving the app a longer-view health data layer that the Coach already draws from. Coaching access does not disappear in either mode - users can still open the Coach for questions and reach active fitness plans from the Fitness tab at any time. The toggle arrives soon after launch; some users found the default proactive guidance more intrusive than useful, and this setting is Google's acknowledgment that one mode does not fit everyone.
Maps Display Errors Resolved
Maps were the only other item in the 5.06 release notes. Google corrected display errors that prevented maps from loading correctly after workouts, and fixed how heart rate zones and pace appear on those maps - both standard review points for runners and cyclists checking session data. No other fitness or data features changed in this release.
OpenAI Health landed in ChatGPT earlier this year with Apple Health and medical record integration, putting Gemini's closest competitor into an explicit health management role. Google Health 5.06 is available now on the Play Store and App Store.
