Google sent invites on July 7 for a "Made by Google" hardware event in New York City on August 12 at 6 PM ET. The invitation - posted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman - shows two phones silhouetted in what appears to be a bronze or gold tone and promises "the next generation of Pixel." Pixel Watch 5 is also expected at the event. Hours later, Dealabs published leaked EU pricing showing every Pixel 11 model costs roughly €100 more than its Pixel 10 predecessor.

128GB Is Gone, and the Price Follows

Google is dropping the 128GB base tier for Pixel 11. According to the Dealabs report, the cheapest Pixel 11 starts at 256GB instead, with 512GB and 1TB as the larger options. That storage jump is what's driving most of the base price increase - the Pixel 11 would open at €999 in Europe, up from the Pixel 10's €899 starting point.

Pro models are getting a straight €100 hike across all storage tiers. EU pricing breaks down as follows: Pixel 11 Pro at €1,199, Pixel 11 Pro XL at €1,399, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold at €1,999. European pricing doesn't translate directly to US dollars, but the Pixel 10 started at $799 in America - a similar pattern would push Pixel 11 to around $899, with the Pro at $999, Pro XL at $1,299, and Pro Fold at $1,899.

The 1TB storage option across the Pro lineup is only available in Midnight Haze, this year's black colorway. Color names for the full lineup leaked alongside pricing: Pixel 11 gets Light Sterling, Midnight Haze, Fuchsia, and Moss. Pro and Pro XL share Light Fog, Midnight Haze, Dune (reportedly pink), and Pine. Pro Fold gets Midnight Haze and Pine only.

AI Compute Costs Are Reaching Consumer Hardware

The 9to5Google writeup on the Dealabs leak used the phrase "RAMageddon" to describe what's happening: memory costs are rising industry-wide because AI infrastructure is consuming DRAM and NAND at a scale that squeezes supply for consumer devices. Samsung's profits quadrupled last quarter on the strength of HBM chip demand - the same demand that's making a 256GB phone base tier more expensive than a 128GB one was two years ago.

Google is not alone in passing those costs on. Samsung already confirmed price increases of up to $280 across the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Watch 9 lineup ahead of its own upcoming launch. The Pixel 11 event on August 12 will confirm whether the leaked numbers hold - Dealabs has a reliable track record on EU hardware pricing ahead of launch.

Pixel 11 goes on sale August 20 if the Dealabs release date is accurate, eight days after the event. Google's Gemini strategy has been unusually aggressive this year, with the model embedded into Maps, Workspace, and Siri through Apple's partnership - the Pixel 11 will be Google's hardware showcase for all of it.
