Meta Launches Enterprise AI Platform and Hires MongoDB CEO to Lead New Business
Meta is creating a new enterprise AI business led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai, bringing its agents, APIs and AI coding tools to companies.
Meta has launched Meta Enterprise Platform, a new major pillar of its business focused on helping companies deploy Meta's AI technology. The platform will bring Meta's agents, APIs, coding tools and broader AI stack to businesses and developers, while former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai joins Meta to lead the initiative.
Meta says Desai will become Chief Enterprise Platform Officer and report directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Before joining Meta, Desai was CEO and president of MongoDB, and previously held product and engineering leadership roles at Cloudflare and ServiceNow.
Meta Enterprise Platform Brings Its AI Stack to Businesses
The initial platform will include Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code, along with other parts of Meta's technology stack. Meta says the goal is to turn these technologies into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses, rather than limiting the technology to Meta's consumer products.
That expands on Meta's existing enterprise AI push. The company introduced Meta Business Agent and a platform for building and deploying business agents earlier this year, giving companies tools to automate customer interactions and connect agents with business systems. The move also follows Meta's plans to build a cloud business for selling AI compute, which points to a broader effort to make parts of Meta's AI infrastructure available outside its own products.
From Business Agents to Enterprise AI Infrastructure
Meta's enterprise strategy is arriving as other technology companies build their own AI deployment businesses. AWS is creating a $1 billion forward-deployed engineering unit to work directly with customers, while Microsoft Frontier is focused on enterprise AI deployment with thousands of engineers. Meta's new platform puts its own models, agents and developer tools into that increasingly competitive enterprise market.
The infrastructure layer is also becoming a central part of enterprise AI. Supabase's $10.5 billion funding round highlighted demand for infrastructure built around agentic software, while Ollama's $65 million Series B showed the growing developer market around running AI models and tools.
Meta is also developing this strategy while managing its own demand for AI compute. The company has been involved in reported talks with Anthropic over a large compute deal, and recent reporting has highlighted limits on Meta's access to Google's Gemini models as compute capacity tightens.
What Meta Wants Enterprise AI to Become
Meta says Enterprise Platform will focus on turning its AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own operations. That includes the agents and developer tools already being built inside Meta, with security and privacy described by the company as core parts of its enterprise products.
The move puts Meta alongside a wider group of AI companies and enterprise software providers competing to become part of how businesses build and operate AI systems. The landscape already includes OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind's different approaches to AI, while enterprise security vendors are also moving into AI-focused products, including Palo Alto Networks' reported $500 million acquisition of Console.
Meta's announcement does not provide a full enterprise product catalog, pricing structure or broad availability timeline for every component. For now, the significant change is organizational: Meta has created a dedicated enterprise business pillar and appointed an experienced enterprise software executive to lead it.
CJ Desai Takes Charge of Meta's Enterprise Push
Desai's appointment gives the new initiative a leader with experience across enterprise software, infrastructure, security and AI. Meta says he will work directly with Zuckerberg as the company develops products and services for businesses and developers.
The launch marks a shift in how Meta is packaging its AI capabilities. Instead of treating enterprise AI primarily as an extension of advertising and messaging products, Meta is establishing a separate platform intended to sell and deploy its AI technology for business use.
Meta's official announcement of Meta Enterprise Platform provides the company's details on the new business pillar, its initial technology stack and Desai's appointment.
