Instagram’s Edits app is getting an AI assistant that can help creators decide what to make next. The Instagram Edits AI assistant is designed to use Instagram performance data to answer questions about content, trends, and audience response, giving creators another way to turn analytics into ideas.

What the Edits AI Assistant Does

According to The Verge, the assistant can use account-level signals such as likes, views, audience retention, and shares to provide personalized guidance. Creators can ask about what is trending, video strategies, scripts, captions, and audio tracks instead of working through performance dashboards on their own.

That builds on Edits’ existing focus on combining video creation with performance insights. Meta says Edits was designed as a workspace for the creative process, and its Ideas tab already brings together saved Reels and audio, notes, inspiration, comment insights, and personalized weekly ideas.

From Analytics to the Next Post

The notable change is not simply another AI editing feature. The assistant is meant to interpret the signals behind a creator’s posts and help turn those signals into the next content decision. That could make the analytics side of short-form video more conversational: instead of only seeing that a post performed well, a creator can ask what the data suggests trying next.

Meta has also been moving Edits toward a broader creator workspace. In its latest Meta One announcement, the company said Edits Plus will add more cloud storage and additional use of the upcoming Edits assistant, which will analyze Instagram insights and help brainstorm new ideas.

The change follows Meta’s broader push to put more creator intelligence inside its own apps. Facebook already has a separate Creator Assistant that uses performance and audience information to provide recommendations and brainstorming help. Availability

The Verge reports that the Edits assistant is rolling out to creators, while Meta’s own announcement describes the expanded assistant access through Edits Plus as coming soon. Meta has not published all rollout details in the announcement, so availability and usage limits may vary.

For creators, the practical change is that Edits is becoming more than a place to cut and publish videos. It is increasingly positioned as a place to understand what is working and use that information to plan the next piece of content.
