Amazon Adds Luna Cloud Games to Prime Video - Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC Available on Fire TV Today
Luna was already a Prime benefit - most members just never found it. Moving it inside Prime Video is Amazon's attempt to fix a five-year discovery problem.
Amazon added a Games tab to Prime Video today, embedding its Luna cloud gaming service directly into the streaming app for the first time. Amazon Prime Video games are live now on Fire TVs in the US and UK. No console required - play with a controller or phone. Titles at launch include Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Clue, and Taboo.
Luna Was Already a Prime Benefit - Prime Video Makes It Visible
Luna launched in 2020 as a standalone cloud gaming app available to Prime members at no extra cost. Most Prime members never knew it existed. Moving it inside Prime Video changes the discovery surface: users who open the app to watch a show now see a Games tab alongside Movies and TV, and can start playing in one click. Jeff Gattis, general manager of gaming at Amazon, put it plainly: "For a lot of people, games have been harder to find than they should be."
Amazon's Own Titles Join the Library at Launch
Alongside third-party licensed titles, Amazon's gaming division contributed Courtroom Chaos and the co-op card battler Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite. New games will be added every month. Amazon has not disclosed the total launch library size or offered any gaming tier above the existing Prime membership.
Netflix Tried the Same Strategy - Most Subscribers Still Missed It
Netflix has been losing daily watch time to YouTube even as it expands deeper into interactive content - its games tab has not meaningfully changed viewing habits for most subscribers. Roblox is launching mobile game creation tools for iPhone on July 28, part of a broader push by media and platform companies to keep users inside a single app rather than switching to a dedicated gaming service. For Amazon, the logic is the same: Luna's problem was never the streaming quality - it was that Prime members had no reason to open a separate app. Whether a tab inside Prime Video solves that is a question Amazon says it will answer by expanding to more devices and countries in the coming months, though no timeline has been given.
