Apple Releases macOS Tahoe 26.7 and Sequoia 15.8 With Security Fixes
Apple is rolling out security-focused updates for Macs that remain on Tahoe or Sequoia.
Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.7 and macOS Sequoia 15.8, giving Macs that remain on those system versions new security updates. Apple says both releases provide important security fixes and recommends them for all users.
macOS Tahoe 26.7 and Sequoia 15.8 focus on security
The updates arrive alongside macOS 27 Golden Gate, Apple's new major Mac release. Unlike the new operating system, Tahoe 26.7 and Sequoia 15.8 do not introduce a new feature set. Their purpose is to keep supported Macs protected with the latest fixes.
9to5Mac reports that Apple has not yet published the detailed security entries for either update. That means the specific vulnerabilities addressed by macOS Tahoe 26.7 and Sequoia 15.8 are not confirmed yet.
The release builds are 25G229 for macOS Tahoe 26.7 and 24H23 for macOS Sequoia 15.8. Both builds match the most recent release candidates Apple had previously issued.
Why these updates matter
Mac users who cannot or do not want to move to macOS 27 still receive security maintenance through these releases. Apple has also continued to issue security updates for older macOS versions throughout 2026, including a previous Tahoe 26.6 update that delivered more than 130 security patches.

For now, Apple has provided the important security-fix notice but not the detailed CVE information for these two releases. The security release documentation should provide more detail once Apple updates its security pages.
